AI in science: balancing innovation and integrity

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the scientific landscape, delivering unprecedented breakthroughs but raising profound questions about research integrity and scientific dialogue. AI has become an essential scientific tool, that creates both opportunities and challenges for Europe’s research community.

These topics were discussed at a workshop on 29 April 2025, organised by the European Parliament’s Panel on the Future of Science and Technology (STOA). It brought together MEPs, Commission representatives, and leading researchers to chart a path forward that harnesses AI’s capabilities while mitigating risks.
