Scientist: Ophelia Deroy

Ophelia Deroy profileProfessor Ophelia Deroy is a philosopher and cognitive scientist. She holds the Chair of Neurophilosophy at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich and an associate research director at the University of London’s Institute of Philosophy.

She also directs the Munich Interactive Intelligence lab, which examines how human cognition shapes and constrains our interactions with emergent technologies and develops ethical guidelines grounded in empirical findings – including behavioural and neural ones. Her contributions appear in high-impact journals and are featured in general media, including Le Monde, The New York Times, and the BBC.

Additionally, Professor Deroy is actively working on bridging the gap between science and philosophy for the broader community.
