Dr Michael Hennessy Picard holds a PhD in Law from the University of Quebec in Montreal (Canada) and is a Lecturer in International Environmental Law at the University of Edinburgh (United Kingdom). He also is a member of the University College of London Waste Law Research Group.
In collaboration with colleagues from Southampton, Space Forge, Secure World Foundation and Edinburgh, Picard is working on the regulatory oversight of satellite re-entry, ablation and atmospheric pollution.
A recent report, co-authored for the Scottish Council on Global Affairs, examines four pressing issues related to space environmentalism and sustainability: space congestion, the protection of Dark Skies, Scotland’s launch capabilities, and Earth-Space Sustainability.
