Tackling the Infodemic

Long before the Covid-19 pandemic hit, the scientific community was already discussing the importance of knowledge-based science communication, effective in engaging the public with scientific evidence and in countering mis- and disinformation.
The public health emergency has triggered the ‘infodemic’: an over-abundance of (both accurate and false) information, therefore going beyond disinformation.
Aiming at helping the public navigate the massive information flow and find answers to their questions in knowledge-based science news, the ESMH developed a specific project to address the spread of deceptive narratives and better understand the inner dynamics of the infodemic.
