Jakob Wachsmuth

Jakob Wachsmuth Dr Jakob Wachsmuth has been a senior researcher at the Competence Centre Energy Policy and Energy Markets of the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI based in Karlsruhe (Germany) since 2015. He studied mathematics with a specialisation in mathematical physics at the University of Bonn. From 2006 to 2010, he was a research associate at the University of Tübingen, where he acquired his doctoral degree in 2010. Since then, Jakob has supported science-based policymaking in energy and climate policy. In his work he focuses on the evaluation of targets and instruments in climate policy and the analysis and design of energy system scenarios and transformation pathways. Jakob is dealing with the future role of hydrogen in several projects on the use, production and transport of hydrogen from a systems perspective. In particular, he developed a German gas sector roadmap towards a sustainable contribution to climate protection for the German Environment Agency. Moreover, he is currently supporting the European Commission with the management of the EU Innovation Fund.
