Hidde van der Ploeg is professor of Physical Activity and Public Health at the Department of Public and Occupational Health of Amsterdam UMC in the Netherlands, where he chairs the section of Health Behaviour and Prevention.His background is in human movement science and epidemiology. His research focuses on the health risks of physical inactivity and sedentary behaviour, national surveillance of these behaviours, and interventions focused on improving physical activity and sedentary behaviours.
