Artificial intelligence is transforming the way information is created, distributed and consumed. Newsrooms are experimenting with AI-powered tools, audiences are increasingly exposed to algorithmically curated content, and concerns about misinformation continue to grow.

 

At the same time, public trust in institutions, media and scientific expertise is being tested. In this rapidly evolving landscape, science journalism plays a crucial role in helping citizens navigate complexity, make informed decisions and participate in a democratic debate.

 

As part of the 2026 European Science-Media Hub Summer School that took place on 22-25 June 2026, policymakers, journalists and researchers came together to discuss how AI is reshaping journalism and what this means for trust, accountability and democracy.
