ESMH Summer School 2026 – Call for young journalists and content creators

Are you a young journalist writing about science and technology? Do you have questions about the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on newsrooms, content consumption and production, and science communication?

➡️ Apply to the 2026 ESMH Summer School on science communication in the age of AI!
Selected candidates have been notified by email on 26 March.

The European Science-Media Hub (ESMH) of the European Parliament is organising a Summer School for young journalists on 22-25 June 2026 in Brussels to address the opportunities and challenges of AI in science communication.

AI has changed how news is produced, distributed and consumed, raising concerns about the future of journalism. The 2026 ESMH Summer School will explore how AI is being used in newsrooms and how to harness its potential for science communication, while also addressing the limits of AI-powered tools and their ethical implications.

Through four interactive and hands-on workshops in smaller groups, experienced (science) journalists and media trainers will share how best to cover AI and incorporate it into reporting and editing practices. They will also share tips and tricks to help navigate the complexities of science communication, including how to tell engaging science stories and captivate audiences.

The four-day Summer School will also include thematic panel discussions with policymakers, researchers, journalists and communicators.

Join this important event on the future of journalism and uncover how to responsibly leverage AI in science journalism!
