From climate change to public health crises, the challenges facing Europe today demand decisions grounded in solid scientific evidence. Yet bridging the gap between research and policy-making remains a persistent challenge.
For nearly a decade, the European Parliament’s Panel for the Future of Science and Technology (STOA) has been tackling this through an innovative pairing scheme – bringing researchers and Members of the European Parliament together for direct dialogue and mutual learning. In 2025 the STOA Panel collaborated with the European Research Council (ERC) to organize meetings between Member of the Panel and ERC grantees.
We explore how this unique programme is strengthening evidence-based policy-making in the European Union.
